Before Your Laser Hair Removal Appointment

Follow these tips to prepare for your Laser Hair Removal treatment.

GENERAL

You may book a consultation prior to your appointment to discuss your goals and come up with a treatment plan or we can do a consultation at your appointment!

Avoid use of Accutane for 6 months before treatment. Please notify your provider if you have ever used Accutane and when.

Avoid receiving natural fillers (hyaluronic acid, Juvederm, Restylane, Revanesse, RHA, collagen) 4-6 weeks before treatment. If you have synthetic fillers (silicone) you cannot be treated in the same area.

Some medications, including many antibiotics, can increase your sensitivity to the heat and light of the laser. Please disclose all medications to your laser technician so safety can be established.Medications that are photosensitive may necessitate rescheduling. Please call the clinic to check safety.

If you have a history of cold sore outbreaks we recommend pre-treating with an antiviral 3 days prior to your appointment as the heat from the laser can activate an outbreak. Please let us know if you are prone.

Clients with an active infection or inflammation in the treatment area may not be treated.

3 WEEKS

Avoid tweezing, bleaching, waxing, threading, hair removal cream and microneedling due to the disruption of the hair follicle, which is the target for the laser.

2 WEEKS

Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, bleaching the skin and other aesthetic treatments.

Avoid tanning beds and sunless tanning products.

Avoid receiving Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, Xeomin and Kybella/Lipodissolve injections in the treatment area.

1 WEEK

Avoid sun exposure 1 week before your appointment and always wear SPF. UV exposure prior to treatment can decrease desired results and cause hypopigmentation. Skin that is sunburned cannot be treated.
