Before Your Dermal Filler Appointment
Follow these tips to prepare for your Dermal Filler treatment.
GENERAL
You may book a consultation prior to your appointment to discuss your goals and come up with a treatment plan or we can do a consultation at your appointment!

If you have a history of cold sore outbreaks we recommend pre-treating with an antiviral 3 days prior to your appointment as there is a risk the injection could activate an outbreak Please let us know if you are prone.

Avoid Dermal Fillers if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or allergic to any of the ingredients in the product.
2 WEEKS
It is recommended that you wait at least 2 weeks to have dermal filler treatments performed if you have previously had cosmetic treatments with laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or microdermabrasion. Avoid these treatments for 2 weeks after treatment.
1 WEEK
Avoid taking medications and supplements such as: Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, St. John’s Wort, Gingko Biloba, Ginseng, Primrose Oil, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment to minimize bruising or bleeding. Please consult with your primary physician prior to discontinuing any medications.
3 DAYS
Discontinue use of topical retinoids or vitamin A derivative products (Retin A, etc.), chemical exfoliants (glycolic acid, etc.), mechanical exfoliants (scrubs, etc.) 7-10 days before and after treatment.

Avoid tweezing, bleaching, waxing, and even hair removal cream around the lips to avoid any increased redness or irritation.
1 DAY
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. (All of these factors may increase risk of bruising, swelling, and irritation).

You may start taking oral Arnica (a natural supplement) to help reduce swelling and bruising.
